Dylan Hanley

A  talk on the current situation, including regional issues, Israel-Palestinian conflict, and internal Israeli issues.  Dylan ,AKA as the Accidental Zionist,  will aka also tell his story and why he supports Israel.

Dylan Hanley is currently Associate Director, Government Relations and University Outreach at the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs. His work includes dealing with both federal and provincial governments, senior university administrations, and working to build bridges between Canada andIsrael around issues of innovation and R&D.

Dylan’s involvement in the subject of Israel/Palestine followed an interesting path as his position evolved from being a pro-Palestinian activist during his undergraduate years to a strong supporter of Israel today.  Dylan holds an M.A. in International Relations and Israel Studies and a B.A. in Political Science,both from the University of Calgary.  His areas of academic interest include: Middle Eastern geopolitical security and politics, regional nuclear non-proliferation, the Middle East peace process, counter-terrorism, and Zionist philosophy.  He speaks regularly to audiences across Canada, and has presented his academic work at New York University, the Open University of Israel, Brandeis University, and the University of Haifa.  He lives in Ottawa with his wife Jenny.
