with Michael Goldstein
Everyday people across the Jewish world learn a page of Talmud (daf) with the goal of completing the entire Talmud in 7 years. This global movement began in 1923 and has captured the imaginations of thousands around the world. Everyone is encouraged to attend, from first timers to those following the current Daf Yomi cycle.
Michael grew up in Ottawa, where he has fond memories of drinking cream soda while visiting his grandparents in The Glebe. Hillel Academy and the Ottawa Torah Institute led him through elementary and high school, but when he was 17 he decided that he wanted something more adventurous, and so he booked his flight to Israel, where he enrolled in Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavne. After 10 years of adventure and study that took him through Israel, New York, Baltimore, and Toronto, Michael came back to Ottawa in August 2010 to help strengthen and build community in his hometown. Two of Michael’s favourite things: squash. Both the vegetable and the sport.
